The ability to convert ideas to things is the secret to outward success...
I have played Strat-O-Matic baseball since I was eleven years old. Basically Strat-O-Matic is a simulation game where each player from each team has his own playing card and pitchers and hitters cards are used to determine the outcome of every at-bat.
The Strat-O-Matic Company was established in 1962 when its founder Hal Richmond decided to create cards for each player and then use dice to determine which outcome on which card would be the result of the play. Since its founding as a baseball simulation Strat has developed other sports games including Pro and College Football, Pro Basketball, and Pro Hockey. In the early 1990's the company developed their original table top dice game into a cdrom version which has since evolved into a net play simulation allowing Strat gamers from all over the world to form and join leagues and compete for Championships.
I have been involved in competitive leagues since 1995 and I am the current commissioner of three different leagues. I also designed, built, and maintain the websites for those leagues. Links to these leagues can be found on my home page.
Other hobbies I enjoy and extracuricular activities I participate in:
I have been designing Strat-O-Matic League Web sites for six years and writing about baseball since 1995, originally contributing to the Schwartz League News, a Strat-O-Matic face to face league which began play in 1995. I have been playing Strat-O-Matic since 1983, including founding the American Association in 2003, and have held the commissioner position in five leagues for a total of nine years. I also played amateur baseball from 1990 to 1995, including one year of baseball at Blackburn University in Illinois.
Education: Associate of Applied Science in Web Development, Baker College, Owosso, Michigan, 2006
Favorite Strat-O-Matic Player: 1994 Jeff Bagwell, Houston Astros, my 2nd round pick after Pudge in initial draft of Schwartz League in 1995. Bag's put up some HUGE numbers and help me win 96 games and my division. The only division title I ever have won in that league
Favorite Strat-O-Matic moment: 2004 winning my first ever Strat-O-Matic Baseball Championship in the Rob Murphy League
Favorite baseball moment: Taking my father to Tiger Stadium for the final time on September 27, 1999, the last game played at THE CORNER. Rob Fick hit a grand slam on a Jeff Montgomery fastball off the facing of the third deck in right field. The blast insured the Tigers 8-2 victory in their last game at historic Tiger Stadium
